It is a proven fact, that up to 97 percent of most people who have had any experience in network marketing have failed. Most come to network marketing because they heard some hype through an “independent representative,” or an ad they read online or in the newspaper about “to earn six figures using their ‘fast start’ plan.” They are quick-buckers looking to resolve their financial problems overnight. And when they don’t get the instant results they are looking for, they accuse the industry of being just another pyramid, saying that none of it is legitimate, and it’s just too hard. Here are 4 of the greatest lies about the network marketing industry:

• Network marketing is fast money. The answer is yes for SOME people. What your uplines have not told you is that those few “lucky” people have a pretty stout advertising budget and can use pay-per-click advertising on Google or place ads in newspapers and magazines. But for the majority of us, who lack that scale of an ad budget, we’ve been taught to bug friends and family, the three-foot-rule, buy leads lists, etc., but the real training on how to actually move product is totally omitted. You’re given a product to sell, and a copy of your company’s compensation plan, and that’s basically your training. Is it ever a wonder why your network marketing business failed? Most people also don’t realize that network marketing is a BUSINESS. And like any other business, you have to build a rock solid foundation first and that takes TIME and patience. Even if you started a traditional business or service, you can’t realistically expect to turn a profit—after all your expenses—within the first few months. There is a learning curve that everyone must go through in any type of business. That’s why most true business people think in much longer terms, and succeed, while most quick-buck seekers fail.

• Network marketing is nothing but a cheesy pyramid scheme. False. Yes, you will need team of motivated, skilled leaders to produce the type of results you are looking for. But in the past, there has been no system to weed out the 97 percent of the people we call the “tire kickers” and the unmotivated people. And you have been told primarily that you need to find that “ultimate star player,” that proverbial needle in the haystack, for your team to succeed. Again it goes back to omission of the necessary training. If you had been properly trained, and mentored a group of people into being “ultimate star players,” isn’t that a whole lot easier than sitting around, waiting incessantly for that “one” to fall into your lap and lead you and your team to victory?

• Network marketing isn’t a legitimate business. Absolutely FALSE. Network marketing is definitely a great business with tremendous benefits. You’re not clocking into a job you don’t like anymore. You get to spend more time with your friends and family because—with most opportunities, with the proper training, and mentoring from your leaders—you will actually spend LESS time on your business and more quality time at home with your family. There are also tremendous tax benefits to operating a business from your home. Not to mention the savings of not having to spend money on gas, commuting to your job, saving wear and tear on your car, or waiting in cold or rain for the bus.

• Network marketing is hard. Those were the old “push and sell” days of typical network marketing—the warm leads, three-foot-rule, grocery store lines. With the advent of Social Media, or Web 2.0 as its known now, and with more thorough internet marketing training available today, network marketing is WAY easier than it was in the past. Using attraction marketing, and the consultative approach, there limitless methods and resources you can use to promote your business. Once again, it goes back to PROPER training on how to use them. You will have to put in some hard work in the beginning. But would you rather work hard for 3 to 6 months and build a great residual income, or work hard for 30 years and get next to nothing?

What do you think attraction is? Is it based on how you look? How you dress? How much make up you use? How long your hair is? Where you live? The type of car you drive?

Let’s be frank. Initially we all base our perceptions of others by what we first see. But that isn’t where the real attraction lay.

Behind the façade, or and Chris Rock quipped,”…your representative…” there is the real person, you. Your thoughts, the fashion of your speech, your posture, your facial expressions, what you say, and what you don’t say, that “inner” you, is what’s really driving your life, and your relationships.

Oh, sure, you can dud yourself out with the latest fashion trends, live in the trendiest neighborhood, and the sexiest job, and drive the top-of-the-line SUV. But if you have the personality of a goat…

In order to have incredible attraction, you must to develop a magnetic mindset. Here are some simple ways to help you develop a “magnetic mind.”

• Be yourself

Stop imitating the images you see in the media and in your personal contacts. Whatever flaws that you have, let them be there. They are a part of you. Fix them as you go. Develop your leadership by being the example. Forgive yourself of your prior trespasses. Forgiveness covers a multitude of sins. Forgive others as well. Do one positive thing for someone today, and do it in the knowing that they can never repay you. Do this for 21 days and it will become a habit.

Take a piece of paper and write down all of your characteristics you can think of, good and bad. Be brutally honest. Then take another piece of paper and write down all of the characteristics you want to have—in other words, draw the picture of yourself, this character, of that you want be. Start taking actions to become that person. Let go of the things on the first list. This is not fakery. It’s called growth.

• Speak with authority

Turn off you ego and open up your soul. Speak from the heart and mean it. President Lincoln once said, “Better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.”

• Close your mouth and open your ears.

Your opinion is irrelevant. The other person is trying to convey a message to you. Stop waiting for a pause in the conversation to inject your personal opinion. Listen to understand, not to respond. It’s ok to check in or repeat a thought back. It demonstrates that you are paying attention. Sit attentively and the other person will eventually get his/her thoughts across to you.

• Laugh: Careful. It’s contagious.

When you yawn. Guess what? Don’t you notice that the person next to you or talking to you lets out a yawn, too? It’s an unexplainable fact. The same goes for laughing. If you are in a room full of people, or just a few, smile at first, snicker, laugh under your breath, then just let one fly! You will be surprised at the reaction. There will be at least one other person that will laugh with you, if not the whole room. If they laugh at you, that’s ok, too. At least you got them to laugh.

• Smile.

Smile. Smile because you’re thankful. Smile because you are blessed. Smile because you know you have something positive to give back to the world. Smile just because you can.

• Stop Whining.

No one wants to be around a human complaint department. Confide in the person that can actually help you solve your problem. Broadcasting your ills to the world will kill your personal Nielson ratings and cancel your show.

• Believe in your inner “magnet.”

Belief creates the actual fact. As you work on creating this character you have written for yourself earlier, you must believe that you are already there. The actions you commit to get yourself into this character will follow. Belief develops confidence. Leaders believe they can achieve the impossible. Leaders allow others to be who they are. Leaders believe that by changing their own behavior and demonstrating success at it, they can positively change the behaviors of others.

• Open the book

Allow people to come in and enjoy what you have to offer. Create positive relationships with other like-minded people. Be open to create authentic relationships. Kill your ego and open your heart. You will be surprised at the number of connections you make.

• Stand with your head held high, young man…

Slouching with your head hung over makes people believe there is something wrong with you. Walk straight and hold your head up. Look people in the eye when you speak to them. This commands authority.
You don’t need the latest gadget or trinket to magnetize yourself. Learn how to be who you are. Speak with authority. Mute your speaker and listen more. Laugh and smile more. Believe in yourself. Open the door to your life. Walk in the knowing that you are great. These are gifts you can’t buy in any department store or dealership. Give these gifts to someone you know, today.

Writing effective, magnetic copy is a crucial skill in any advertising campaign, whether you are writing for ads or articles for your business. You must understand that most people are very emotionally driven and your writing should “magnetize” them toward your particular product. In order to get that “perfect message, with the perfect words,” you have to write to them as if they didn’t know how they ever managed in life with your product.
In order to write, that convincing, “I’m sold!” copy you have to use words that cause people to surge in anger, “Hey! I was ripped off in the past!” to sadness, “What am I going to do now?” to an explosion in happiness, “Wow! This guy really wants to help me!” In other words, you need to cleverly connect the dots in your copy to strike these emotions at very specific points in order to close the sale. Great, riveting copy, ties us emotionally to text we read everyday. News organizations, although they are stating the “facts,” use this type of writing all the time to “sway” you into a particular opinion, usually the opinion of the editor.

The internet marketing industry has made a multimillion dollar windfall for countless internet-marketers by instituting highly skilled experts to write outstanding, riveting sales pages. Your business ad campaign absolutely needs to have explosive copy in order to make a tenfold difference in your bottom line. Here are five rules that will transform your copy from zero to hero:

1. Who is your target audience?
In other words, what lucrative markets are you pursuing? You must establish your market before you even write your first word. Who are you marketing to? Working families? Teens? Single moms? What specific needs do they have that drive them to your product or service? What are their pains? Write copy that gets that conversation going.

2. Find language that speaks to their level.
Befriend your market. Use your own conversation to establish a connection by speaking their language. Eliminate the disconnect so that your market will buy from you, and not someone else. Magnetize them to your product.

3. You must apply the K-I-S-S rule
In other words, “Keep it simple, Stupid!” Don’t confound them with a lot of unnecessary and lengthy text. People have the attention span of a mosquito. Present your product in short sound-bytes, or, in text, short sentences or text-bytes. Don’t ramble on a tangent, stay on course.

4. Absolutely NO technical jargon!
They don’t need to know every single detail about your product! That’s what the instruction book is for! Remember, mosquito attention span! People just need to know enough about your product to make their lives better. Offering too many unnecessary details will kill your sale!

5. Be honest.
You don’t have to lie to get a sale. If you deliberately misconstrue the facts about your product, people will eventually find out. Remember, your point is to get new and repeat customers. When they discover your lies, you’ve killed your business.
So remember these crucial elements to your advertising campaign. Zero in your target audience. Come into people’s living rooms. Keep the conversation simple and stay on course with the conversation. Avoid too much technical speak. And be real with your customers. These rules should help anyone, in any business, anywhere, be successful.

Today, we live in a world that is overwhelmingly self-centered. In today’s ‘me” generation, competition, rather than collaboration has been engrained as the only path to true success. Feeding our own egos and paychecks seem to be our only goal. We are defined by what we have and not what we do.

Ask yourself today,” What have I done to add value today?” “Who have I helped today?” “Whose life has been made better by something I’ve done today?” Can you remember? True leaders constantly and consistently give to others, and get great enjoyment in helping them to succeed. It is less about stroking an ego and more about changing a mindset.

Are you adding value or are you subtracting from it? The IT professional who does not constantly refresh his education will quickly no longer be able to effectively do his job. He loses value and subtracts from his ability to lead his team. The clothing store manager who stays current with fresh and exciting fashions, and makes sure his stock out on the floor always stays ahead of the fashion curve, adds value. His loyal customers will keep coming back because he has given them fashionable clothes no one else is stocking at the moment. Leaders who choose to reach out to others in their respective organizations and give them information that, if nothing else, show a few people how to gain a few extra dollars by learning a new technique, add value. They lift someone else go to a much higher level.

The art of giving is, is to give freely without the expectation of something in return. You should do something for somebody, today, and give it in the spirit and knowledge that they can never repay you.

Giving brings opportunity. Givers always bring a multitude of solutions. Opportunists lurk in dark corners, waiting to steal the limelight from someone else’s hard work. Experienced givers solve problems bringing happiness and fulfillment to those around them. Opportunists bring disruption and inherently create bigger problems.

Before you claim the title of “leader,” you must first learn how to “serve.” It is title that is earned by paying your dues—doing your due diligence—getting the job done. They provide value by helping those around them go to their next level. Are you a leader? Are you adding true and honest value?

In the stock market, a Bull market indicates that shares in the market are going up. Fortunes are made, millions of dollars exchange hands, and people relish in the wealth. A Bear market indicates that shares are declining in value, if not caught in time, millions of dollars can be lost, entire fortunes ruined, and lives devastated. Life can be very similar with its own peaks and valleys.

Leaders, however, know how to react whenever there are any changes in the ever-changing market of life. Leaders arm themselves by proper education and strategizing a game plan for the latter rains that may come. Below are some proven strategies leaders use to increase longevity in the Bulls, and swift recoveries of the bears.

1. Always see the larger picture and set your ultimate goals accordingly.
Be realistic in your goal setting. Make sure they are obtainable according to your skill set. Pace yourself. Any large, time-consuming goals you have should be broken down into mini-goals. Order them according to importance and sharpen your focus to achieve each one in a timely fashion.

2. Have higher ambitions.
The successful leader is passionate about his/her goals. This takes high commitment and hard work. Having great passion executing your goals minimizes the bears when they come.

3. Increase your value.
Invest in educating yourself. Buy highly recommended books in your field. Mentor with other successful leaders. Increase your skill sets. Educate yourself to stay sharp and focused. Successful leaders STAY on their A-game.

4. Invest in your personal health.
Make managing and increasing your health part of your plan for success and happiness. Having excellent health is a by-product of prosperity.

5. Leaders accept full responsibility.
Leaders are not careless, but exercise responsibility in their actions concerning family, society and workplace and environment. Prioritize the people in your life, especially the ones who helped you to where you are today. Acknowledge partners in success and derive strength from them.

6. Patience is king.
All overnight successes were years in the making. Leaders suffer through all of the hard work and dedication. They believe enough in themselves to stay in the game. They see failures and pitfalls as challenges and stepping stones rather than problems.

7. Giving up is never an option.
Leaders keep moving. They forgive themselves of poor decisions made in the past and move on quickly. They also don’t dwell on events not in their control. They use their skill sets, or learn new ones, to turn bears into bulls.

8. Turn failure into a learning opportunity.
Leaders take failure and convert it into valuable experience. What did you learn from this occurrence? Use these experiences as opportunities to take you to the next level. This will accelerate you toward your goal.

9. Got Positivity?
Leaders take negativity and make it their footstool. Your attitude is your magnet. You will either attract other positive minded people that can help you or you will quickly repel them. The magnetic leader is filled with optimism and remains enthusiastic and committed to established goals.

10. Time to party!
Whenever you successfully accomplish any goal, big or small, recognize your achievement. Hi-five with someone. Take yourself out to a nice restaurant (or, even better, have your colleagues do it for you…) Go on that vacation you’ve always wanted. Reward yourself in a huge way. Use these experiences to motivate you through your next goal.

No which market your life is in at the moment, be an effective leader do what ever it takes to achieve the goal. Stay focused, and stay on task until the job is done. And remember to celebrate the great moments when they come. Develop great memories to get you through the Bears.

What is having an awesome coaching mindset? First, you must understand that there is a clear and definite difference between a consultant and an expert. Consultants are experts, practicing and honing their skills in the field. As a business coach, you become the expert. YOU help the client navigate the treacherous terrain while allowing that person to choose the absolute best course on their own. As the awesome business coach you actually partner with the client to help get tasks done in a timely, efficient fashion. This helps tremendously by building the necessary trust to strengthen and anchor your coach-client relationship.

In the coaching process, you allow space for the client to use his/her own creative process to bear fruit in the form of self-discovery. You achieve this by being an expert listener, using your empathic listening skills to understand, rather than respond. This creates a “safety zone” for the clients to open up their own minds and create their own solutions. Instead of becoming the “director,” or the mule doing the work for them, you are the friend walking beside them. The professional coach learns to quickly inspire trust by listening wholly with no agendas. Learn to treat the other person as your OPW, or only person in the world. Be slow to judge, don’t rush to solve, and give them space to be who they are. Coaching is delegation in its supreme form.

In learning to be an awesome coach, you must learn how to economize the time it takes achieving the task. Be an active participant by partnering with your clients rather than be a superior to them. This will help you bolster their confidence and trust in you, tenfold. Developing the necessary skills and strong mindset of professional coaches will minimize your workload because you glean from your business partners, clients, prospects, and professional associates, what the tasks actually are, with vast efficiency.

As a professional coach, you must identify what the underlying issues are. Often it is what is NOT said that is most significant. As the professional coach, you must learn to become a much deeper listener. It is a skill you must practice in order to become a master listener and coach. You can use these skills in any of your relationships, personal or professional, and take them to a much higher level.

Make sure the message you send is the same message received. To find out the state and stage of the client’s business, you must place yourself in the other person’s shoes. Listen to what’s been happening in their lives, what actions they have taken, who they circulate with, what their current background is, anything to give you a context on how they might receive your message. You will be able to tune in to what your clients do and say in a way, using your subconscious mind, developing your skills and mindsets. Learn to see what is and isn’t there. Most may not, but, anyone can apply this skill. You must learn how to have a well trained eye to extract the needs in all your relationships.

What actions can you start executing immediately?
Begin with practicing true listening shills—whether you are speaking with a client or family member, associate, or friend, practice being completely “in the moment with them.” Listen to understand, not to respond. Come into their living rooms. Listen for tones, speed, and pauses. They are the signs along the road to let you know what’s really going on. Feel what they are saying and NOT saying. Those will be your clues as to where they are. Check in with them on occasion. Make sure you hear is what is really being said. Apply these skills to yourself. You will be surprised at what you find out! Use all of these extremely important skills to reduce the pressure and stress that comes with being a business owner. A riptide is a relatively short band of water that travels parallel to most beaches. Most of the time, they are not able to be detected visually and catch most people off guard when they occur. To survive a rip current there are certain steps you should take:

1. DO NOT PANIC. You will not be able to make sound decisions when you do. And you will end up drowning because you will tire out quickly.

2. Realize that it is a naturally occurring dynamic force that happens all the time and just let it carry you. It will save your energy.

3. Swim or float WITH the current until it slows or stops. Usually it will do nothing but merely carry you further down the shore, and, eventually, you can swim, or in some cases, just walk out of the water. But you have to keep a cool head to get through the process.

In Google, it is the same dynamic. A riptide has occurred on Google Beach and it is carrying all of the illegitimate, lying, over hyped, the outlandish and the cheating self-replicating sites that have been stealing money, and trust, from ordinary people looking for a common solution to their problems. Google is looking for fresh, original, unreplicated content. It is looking for content that is creative and is less “salesy” and more “helpful” or service directed. No more multiple links that lead to the same website. Landing pages and the like have to be different and all original and offer something free or low cost to the prospect in exchange for opting in. If you keep you head cool and don’t panic you will be able to make the sound decisions necessary to bring your business back to where it was before you got “Google Slapped.”

It is just another dynamic force occurring in the internet market. And once you learn how to let it carry you at first and just learn the dynamic, it will bring you to a place where you can make your next move.

Go to Google and find out what all of the new compliance regulations and FTC rules are and change your new strategy accordingly.

Eventually you will be able to make the decisions necessary to either swim or even walk back to the dry land. Before long, you will be walking back up the shoreline where your market is.
